On a Boulder

On a boulder I stand as a lookout,

Watching the horizon as the enemy flees,

A slow smile emerges and locks me in,

I know the worst has passed indeed,

The weariness of battle suddenly leaves my body,

And I slide down with my knees to the ground,

Happy tears dot my eyes,

For I have lived to see the victory.
