My Prayer

Love is the answer and my prayer,

I search to no avail,

I wonder the day it will come,

I stand guard at my door's entrance,

I strain for the sound of his steps,

But alas!

Nothing in the distance,

Nothing in the air,

And despair swirl like a blanket,

Ready to engulf and drown me,

But in hope I hear a patter,

A light sound of movement,

So I drop my blanket,

And wait with eager longing.
