The Sunset Poet

Like Clockwork

Like clockwork it comes back,

No matter how hard I push to get away,

I've made a choice to stand here,

And to move in other areas of life,

It knocks and asks how I am,

I'm shell shocked by its candid acquaintance,

Because I'd really moved on,

Or so I thought,

Now the memories follow upon this idea,

And I'm hoping and wanting and needing,

How do I get over this now,

I'm I meant to embrace it?

Shun it? Love it?

Life is complicated,

And I'm trying to live,

But this one is beyond my reach,

And I'm stuck between yearning and ignoring it for eternity.
